Today’s I Draw Childhood cancer infographic is an adrenal gland
cancer known as phaeochromocytoma:
Today’s not-so-fun fact from Childhood cancer Warriors is about
leukemia. E has leukemia, specifically the acute lymphoblastic
leukemia (ALL) type. Co-incidently, September is Blood cancer
Awareness Month as well, so this month is double awareness for
families like ours. The three main types of blood cancer are
leukemia, myeloma, and lymphoma. Leukemia’s ribbon colour is
orange. Myeloma’s ribbon colour is burgundy. Lymphoma has a bit of
a confusing history about its ribbon colour. Lime green used to be
the colour for all lymphomas, but it was split, and Hodgkin’s
lymphoma switched to violet, with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma remaining
green. The two types of lymphoma later got back together, with a
ribbon that his half lime green, and half violet. To muddle things
even further, the leukemia and lymphoma Society later decided to
create their own ribbon, a red one, which represents all blood
cancers.
